Trellis Payne is a Savannah, Georgia, artist who channels the welcoming spirit of the South into bright, peaceful works of art that add a little happiness to anyone’s collection.
Art is more than just a hobby for Trellis. As soon as the self-described “Southern belle” got her hands on a paintbrush in college, it was love. She started developing her passion on canvas, finding a happy home in abstract art. Soon, that passion became not only a career but a calling. The Dublin, Georgia, native earned a B.F.A. at Valdosta State University, an Art Education Certification from Georgia Southern University and a M.Ed. from Troy University.
Trellis stepped up to help promote public appreciation of art by becoming a high school art teacher in Savannah, where she’s been honing her craft and helping expand young minds since 2002.
When Trellis is not teaching art, she’s making it.
Trellis has a penchant for working with acrylics, watercolors and mixed media. Her work ranges from colorful abstractions to rustic emblems of Americana and country living to her most recent endeavor, a series of peaches. As Trellis tells it, she’s entered her “peach period,” and now paints the emblematic fruit — a taste of home for anyone who’s ever visited Georgia — in a variety of styles.
